Downloaded application warning box

Postby HairyHighlandCow » Sun Apr 10, 2011 9:25 am

Hi,
I've made a little Applescript installer app for my application. When the disk image containing it is downloaded from the internet, and you double click on the installer, the standard message appears: 'This app was downloaded from the internet, are you sure you want to open it?'...OK, fine. Then it installs the main application in the Apps folder and launches it. But of course, the message pops up again for the main application: 'This app was downloaded from the internet, are you sure you want to open it?'. Is there any way to stop this message popping up twice?
Cheers
Alec

I think that depends on who the owner of the files in the app bundle is. This shell command is what you need to run:

Code: Select all
xattr -d -r com.apple.quarantine /Path/to/application/

but if the files are owned by system (and the user isn't logged in as root) you'll have to sudo it, so the cure may be as bad as the disease.
