Steps to building a standalone?

Postby cyrano » Wed Apr 04, 2012 2:04 pm

I'm having trouble with building a standalone.
Using the full version of Supercard 4.7.3 and Lion.
I go through the Universal Binary steps using the Standalone maker, the file is built.
When I click on the built application it it says "Where is the project you want?" as if it wants the supercard player.
It opens with the player, and it needs the player on a different computer.

I upgraded to 4.7.3 and Lion so there may be residues of older programs remaining.

When I first upgraded everything, it wouldn't work so I rebuilt the permissions and zapped the PRAM. After that it worked. Now it doesn't again and those solutions don't work.

Maybe if someone could go through the steps of building a standalone project and I'll see what happened along the way.

Thanks

Can you post a screen shot of that "where is" prompt?

Also… did you install the Player? And does the correct path to it appear in the 'Runtime' tab of Standalone Maker.

So after actually thinking and then trouble-shooting I figured it out.
And of course, as with most issues, I should have known better.

The name of my standalone included an "&" in the title.
Supercard appears unable to process the apersand as a part of the title.

It looked like it was trying to follow a path.
replaced the "&" in the title with an "and" and it worked fine.
Put the ampersand back into the title at various places: problem reoccurred.
Put a "/" in and, surprise, surprise, the problem reoccurred.

Could be my computer setup, could be Supercard.
If you have some spare time, see if the same thing happens to you

Thanks

Not surprising… the ampersand is a SuperCard operator (concatenation). Glad you got it sorted out.
