two application menus in stand alone

Postby KevinPaszalek » Mon May 06, 2013 11:43 am

I have built a project as a stand alone and it works great except that it has two application menus. That is, two menus with the name of my application.
Can anyone suggest what has gone wrong? There is only one application menu in the resources as viewed in SuperEdit.
Thanks in advance!

You get an application menu for free in a standalone (all apps have one). If you want to insert items into this menu you need to define an "Apple" menu and insert your items into it.

Thanks again, Scott. I wasn't sure that I understood what you meant which is why my last reply may have seemed tentative.
I removed both the Apple Menu and the Application Menu from my project and now the standalone works fine.
Blessings!

Scott, how do I insert a "Preferences..." item into the Application menu in this arrangement?
Thanks!

Wow! That's counter-intuitive! But, it works!
I insert an Apple menu with About.. and Preferences.., and they show up in the application menu! Wow!
Thanks a lot. I just couldn't believe that what you said is what you meant!
I appreciate all your help.
Blessings,

Prior to OS X, the Apple menu is where these items were located. I suppose we could have changed the name, but that would have broken everyone's existing projects (something we try to avoid if at all possible).
