Polygon Editing

Postby DougDenby » Fri Jul 15, 2011 4:31 am

As a long time SuperEdit and SuperCard user, I am embarrassed to say that I can not figure out how to add a point while editing a polygon in SuperEdit, nor can I figure out how to delete a point. I have tried holding down each of and combinations of CommandKey, OptionKey, ShiftKey and ControlKey while clicking on a point, but no luck.

These functions must exist in SuperEdit. Anyone?

The only way to add or delete points of a polygon is in SuperCard using the points property:

Code: Select all
set the points of <polygon descriptor> to <x1,y1,x2,y2,x3,y3,etc.>

Thanks Scott, I suspected that.

However, in ModuloPi, that wonderful supplementary editor from Stéphane Leys, there is a rather simple method: hold down the OptionKey while clicking on a point of a polygon and poof the point is deleted; hold down the OptionKey while clicking on a side of a polygon and magically appears a point. Great.

I was hoping to find something that simple in SuperEdit, but I guess not.

But it's created opportunities! ; for Tangerine, QuickTools and MPI - and I've sure learned a lot from those authors !

With Tangerine even the entire SuperTalk script was available for purchase and re-use as well as study.
I wish it were for MPI too.

Plus one gets, as a bonus, the personality of the authors and their cultural ethos expressed in the tool; across the top of the world eastward then swooping south to the Mediterranean, influences mix with SuperTalk to create ...new stuff!

But, I see your point Doug and thanks for pointing it out.
Have you put it on the features requested list?
