externals and xfunctions?

Working on making the switch to SuperCard? Many here have done it... ask your questions here.

externals and xfunctions?

Postby melristau@mac.com » Thu Jun 11, 2009 6:58 am

Thinking of the possibility of moving some old stacks to SuperCard and wondering about all those externals and xfunctions that I used . . . As I recall, a handful were commonly used in stacks and wondering if some might have been "upgraded" to be compatible with SuperCard and more recent Mac OS?

YOu should list the name of the external and what function it performed.

Many things in HyperCard that needed externals are part of the language in SuperCard. SC also comes with a suite of externals (Xtend) that perform the most commonly requested features. Then there are a lot of 3rd party externals available as well as programmers on the list who have helped out with externals (when asked nicely).

Then there's the Shell, and AppleScript which can perform external-like calls for you....
