How do you do a script debugging checkpoint in SuperCard

Postby racepacket » Fri Nov 28, 2008 6:52 pm

In HyperCard, one can set a check point in the script editor at any point in a script so that when execution reaches that point, a debugger is activated, and you can step through the script. Is there a similar feature in SuperCard? I must say that I have never purchased a software package with so little documentation. Where do most of you go for SuperCard documentation?

Thanks,

I found the answer. It is the "trace" command.

We actually expect that folks coming to SuperCard will read the user guide. In this case there is an entire chapter (11 pages) devoted to the script tracer.

Perhaps it would be helpful to put a menuItem ("SuperCard UserGuide.pdf") in the Help menu of the Runtime Editor that would open the SuperCard UserGuide.pdf within whatever application the user has set (Preview or Acrobat Reader) to handle pdfs.

Until then one could make a little project to do this;

Code: Select all
on mouseUp
 put "MacHD:Applications:SuperCard 4.63:SuperCard UserGuide.pdf" into tFilePath
 put merge("tell app `Finder` to open `[[tFilePath]]`") into tScript
 get script(do,applescript,tScript)
end mouseUp
