FScript External

Here is where the magnanimous folks that create externals post them (.zip archives only please).

FScript External

Postby sctell » Tue Nov 01, 2011 10:47 am

Attached is a BETA of an external that integrates F-Script.

What is F-Script?

F-Script is a set of open source tools for dynamic introspection, manipulation and scripting of Cocoa objects on Mac OS X

This is the briefest of descriptions from F-Scripts web site which can be found here:

http://www.fscript.org/

So this external basically gives you scripting access to the fun of Cocoa.

It has only 2 functions:

execute - this simply executes a script.

loadFrameworks - which loads the frameworks specified in a comma delimited list.

The test project gives you an idea of the capabilities of F-Script.

The F-Script script for each button is contained in a cd userProperty.

Please see the web site for full details and documentation for F-Script.

Please play with it and let me know any problems here please.

And one last thing.....

It's 10.6 and above, intel only.

All the best

Terry

Hi Terry,
I get an error number 232
Unable to link Mach-O external from the openproject handler

After that I get never heard of that handler from the buttons.

Macbook 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo
$GB RAM
10.6.8

Button names sound exciting, especially the IKpicturetaker, access to isight?

cheers

You'll need to copy the FScript framework (Show Package Contents on FScript.bundle) into /Library/Frameworks or ~/Library/Frameworks.

Hi,

That will do it, however, I am looking into just having it in the externals bundle but can't figure out how to do it?

I am sure it's possible but I can't figure it at the moment.

I might have an idea for you... First off, are you using Xcode 3.x or 4.x?

Hi John and All,

I seem to have resolved the error number issue and the external should now work. You cannot import the bundle through Resource Manager it has to be loaded using the load command. See the project script of the test project.
You can place wherever you like subject to adjusting this script, even in the bundle of a standalone SC app.

As I said in the first post this is still a BETA for experimentation. Any issues, please post here.

The revised external can be downloaded from the first post of this thread.

Please post any fantastic scripts you have created with F-Script for others to share.

All the best

Hi all,

I have posted an update to this external.

No added functionality but a slight improvement to the showing of the object browser which was occasionally crashing SC.

I have modified the project now.

Each example script is included in the user properties of the cd.

You can now add, edit, delete and run these scripts from the projects cd.

You can download the project/external at the top of this thread.

All the best
