OpenGl XFcn

Postby Dan_Kelleher » Fri Sep 03, 2010 6:49 pm

Does anyone know what the most recent version of the OpenGl external is and where to obtain it?

I have Ian's great Atlas project redo of Chilton's original; universal XFcn "GL" created I think in May 2007.
get GL(!) returns "GL XFcn by Ian Bridges ©2007 <Ian Bridges>"

Perhaps that is the most recent ?

TIA,

Hi Dan,

You should look at MPI's OGL module and the OGL tutorial project.

Hello Stéphane,
But is that an XFcn that I could copy into a commercial product ?

The version which is in MPI needs the MPI environment. But negotiable.

How do I get to the OGL Tutorial ? When I open MPI and browse around, I don't see it.

Also, of the list of OGL Commands, which ones are implemented in the present OGL external ?
The ones that have a description ?

I know you know I'm a SuperEdit user, so please be patient with me. :)

There was a magnitude 7.0 earthquake in New Zealand.
Is that where Ian lives ?

In the folder you downloaded, there is an "MPI samples" folder where you'll find the "OGL tutorial 6.sc45" project.
You can copy the "MPI samples" folder or the projects it contains where you like, they don't need to be in a special place.

Open the OGL tutorial, this will open the OGL module where you'll find a popup menu with an item "Xogl commands" I confess that I didn't update the list of commands since quite a long time and it is incomplete.
But, as you visit the tutorial, you can see the script in the OGL module (click the zoom box).
These scripts contain many examples of the commands and how using them.
If you want to test, you can D&D the cube from the OGL module to the topwindow of any project. This OGL graphic contains a simple script that you can modify using the examples of the tutorial.

Thanks.
I've got it.
I had forgotten that it was not automatically installed.
I see that the tutorial project requires that it be opened from within MPI, which makes sense given the conditions of use.
Cheers!

Only MPI and the modules are installed automatically because they must be in the SC Pouch.

This is a technical necessity. The tutorial is done for explaining the OGL module. Thus the module must be open and since the modules can't live outside the MPI environment ...
